One of the best pieces of advice my mother ever gave me was to take life, one day at a time. This mantra could not be any more applicable in the times we are currently living. Mom also told me to “live each day, not to get through it but to make it great”. She was a woman of simple yet very reasonable wisdom. There is so much pent up anxiety at the forefront of our lives right now. And we don’t want to allow that anxiety to spiral into sickness. We need to be more on top of our health than ever before.

I recently started offering Free Coaching Friday sessions on my Facebook Group – The Autoimmune Friendly Approach. I will be running another one this Friday. My first one touched on dealing with Stress. Much needed for everyone right now.

My upcoming coaching session will be on sugar and gravitating towards those comfort foods during this crisis. It’s so easy to do, right? Yes – I also am guilty as charged. And I am not even going to tell you NOT to do it. Right now, we do need those moments of comfort BUT it’s all about finding the right balance so that these comfort moments can slip in, here and there. Kind of sprinkling them in – not letting it get out of control. We don’t want to set off the domino effect here. But we also don’t want to have deprivation set in because that’s when we tend to go off the rails. So, I will share how I go about my comfort food indulgences.

Put a number on it and in more than one way. Allow yourself certain days of the week. I like to save my indulgences for the weekend. I work hard all week, and it helps me to have more to look forward to during the weekend. Plus, I am burning way more calories over the weekend. I am definitely sitting more during the week since working at my desk.

Another way to put a number on it – curtail how many times per week – I recommend 2 times (3 at the absolute most). I will have my vegan ice cream on Friday’s and Saturday’s. By Sunday, I am ready to start eating cleaner and prepping for the upcoming week. The last way to put a number on it – watch the amount you are indulging – as in portion control. It should not be a free for all when having that comfort food. Be mindful of your hunger and fullness scale and pay attention to how much you are putting in that bowl or on that plate. When you are eating – try to remove distractions so that your mind is making the connection with each bite and each taste of that scrumptious food. If you are  not paying attention, you will feel like you didn’t have it and will likely want more. We have been graced with time – so take that time and tune into what you are eating. My clients can vouch for how effective this is. Something that sounds so simple yet so challenging for many.

There are many ways to manage anxiety and stress – and not just with food. Get creative with regular exercise, self-care, eating lots of nutrient dense vegetables & fruit, getting on a regular sleep schedule and incorporating the right amount of supplements daily. This includes Vitamin D, Vitamin C and magnesium. Another source I have been utilizing is CBD products. They have helped me tremendously. Especially since I have been struggling with anxiety for quite some time – it’s been on and off most of my adult life. I most recently made the decision – which was the natural next step for me as a Health Coach – to become an affiliate partner with a CBD/Hemp Extract company. Since it’s helping me on many levels, I want to share the benefits with my clients, friends and family. Plus it’s a high quality product, organic and Non-GMO.

This company is the only CBD company that has done clinical studies and they have done extensive research and studies on brain mapping. CBD is neuro-regenerative and that is huge for me and my MS. So now I am ready to share with you all. If this sounds intriguing to you, please contact me for more information.

If you are on Facebook, be sure to tune into my next Free Coaching Friday. I plan on going live on Friday at noon. Stay well and Healthy!
