“Lessons of 2020”
It’s been quite the year – the year of 2020. This will likely go down as one of the worst years for many. We have all been challenged on some level. How we have handled those challenges is what truly defines us.
We have learned to adapt. From remote school and work to always having a mask on our face when out in public. Think back a year ago – December 2019 – we had no idea what was coming. Yet we have learned to adapt and have certainly evolved throughout this experience. We can make changes when absolutely necessary, especially when it involves our health and our family’s health. Fear was a dominating factor when the virus first arrived. Adapting to that fear and being proactive has helped carried us through a most challenging time.
We have learned a heightened form of simple appreciation. We can appreciate the daily sun rising and sun setting and see the beauty of the process we are so fortunate to witness each and every day. Appreciating our family has been front and center for so many. Certainly something many have taken for granted in the past. Some families have thrived because of the pandemic and others unfortunately have been divided. With schedules shifting to mostly being at home, we have adapted to more time with each other. The small moments, the more intimate talks and reflection of how we are dealing will always remain with us. Appreciating our extended family – so many of us not spending the time that we so crave. Thank goodness for video chats to stay connected.
We have learned to appreciate what others are doing for us. So many to be thankful for! Healthcare workers, school administration, teachers, delivery drivers, restaurant owners/staff and the list goes on and on. Thank you, thank you, thank you! There are just not enough thank yous.
We have learned to cook more! So many food pics and recipes being shared on social media. I have worked with many people that are just not into cooking. It’s a lot of work – I get it. But many have stepped up and started experimenting more and actually enjoying the process.
We have learned to prioritize what is truly important. That would be our health, family, and friends. Tuning into our health, family and friends has risen to the top of the pile. The core basics and fundamentals of life. When it’s all said and done – it’s really all that matters.
We have learned to open our eyes and realize we only have so much time to pursue the things we love. It’s the “what have you been waiting for?” moment. I think we have all hit that moment and that question. And this can be anything – doing those things you have been putting off, pursuing that career you have been dreaming about, reconnecting with those you have lost contact with. Believe in yourself and anything is possible!
Going into 2021, we will go into the year with the forever memory and mark of 2020. We can only hope that this will be our comeback year. The year of making dreams come true!
A few updates with what I have in store for 2021:
- My online course will be released – the 8 Week AUTO Friendly Approach, Solving Inflammation.
- 28 Day Whole Foods Reset Group starts February 1st – Great way to close out the winter months, providing you with more energy, less inflammation, and some bonus weight loss.
- Goal – begin working on my 1st Simple anti-inflammatory recipes that are clean, fast, delicious and super simple to prepare.
