Coach Christi’s “Food Labels 101”

Understanding food labels is like getting your continuing credits post college. It’s an ongoing learning process as the marketing and labels tend to keep changing. If you follow some of the general concepts shared in this video, it will help set you up better before entering the market.

My forever advice is to stick with those whole food aisles – being the produce department, fish & meat department and cold food items. Aim to sparingly shop those center aisles and when doing so, aim for foods in their most whole form. Examples being nuts, beans, seeds, and whole grains.

Being more aware of how to detect the misleading packaging will help you be very successful navigating the right foods to put in your cart. It’s always important to flip over the package – no matter what the marketing calls out – and read that ingredient label.
