Decadent and oats – who would ever put these 2 words together??? Wish I could high five the person that came up with the overnight oats concept. Pure brilliance!
And yes, these are certainly a decadent version of overnight oats. Considering that they include chocolate, peanut butter and brewed coffee, you can have this as a breakfast or dessert.
Confession, I love to have a jar of overnight oats in the fridge, as a back-up healthy snack. I can never finish an entire jar for one breakfast meal. It’s a great meal that can stretch into a few snack servings after I have half of it for breakfast. And I always get super pumped when I realize I have this as an option! LOL!
This is why I have the recipe ranging from ½ cup to ¾ cup oats – if you want a little extra for some on-hand snacking, bump it up to ¾ cup. You will also likely need to add more milk to the jar as you go. I usually add a splash or two when eating them.
These have been my go-to oats – love that they are certified gluten free and organic. I get them at Sprouts (it’s their brand) and they have served me well for all my oat containing recipes!
I also love my mini chocolate chips. I do have to claim them – putting “mom” on there with a sharpie. It still doesn’t seem to keep those teen fingers out of my chocolate though. Please don’t tell them I have secret stashes in my bedroom closet.
Here is the finished result. Decadently delicious overnight oats with a little caffeine kick!
Creating new overnight oat recipes is so much fun – the options are endless. I love intertwining healthy with decadent – YES – it can be done!
