Our society tends to go about getting slim for all the wrong reasons. Who doesn’t want to look great in a bathing suit or be able to fit into smaller sized clothes? Trust me, I get it! “Looking good” and the aesthetics are the benefit of becoming healthy and fit but should not be the main driver. We get stuck on what we look like rather than what our overall health looks like. Without sound health, what really do we have?
Ultimately – you need a “WHY?” My “why” has been my MS which has evolved over the past 19 years. Initially it was just to get back to normal and help my husband not worry about me progressing into mobility issues. Then it was to be at my healthiest for my babies and to not be a burden to them. Now, I want to maintain my health and continue on this path I am on to help others. This is not an easy feat – maybe it appears to you that it is easy for me, but everyday is hard to stay on track. It’s work, but very far worth it to me! My “why” keeps me in check.
Journaling for Lasting Habit Change

- Benefits of Journaling:
– Relieves Anxiety
– Helps with Depression
– Reduces Stress - How & What to Journal
– Keep a log with how you are feeling each day. Keep this in a space that you visit each morning, so it is front and center. Maybe next to the coffee machine? 😊
Create a Template
a. List out 2-3 goals for that day.
b. Keep it short & sweet – Why you want to complete that goal.
c. Include how it would make you feel if goal completed. - Results I am Seeing
– Those clients that journal their food, exercise, energy levels, etc. have been exhibiting better overall habits. This includes better food choices, increased and consistent movement and overall weight loss. It is not a fast process and should not be. For habit changes to be permanent, the changes need to be slow and gradual to optimize effectiveness. - We Do Have an Inner Resistance Holding Us Back
– This is a real thing – why do you think you have not achieved said goals? Our critter brain gets scared and uncomfortable, so we revert back to those more comfortable habits.

So, lets circle back to my initial question. When this is over and you look back on this time (time of Staying In Place), what will you regret NOT getting done? If you are fortunate to be gifted with time, WHAT IS HOLDING YOU BACK?
What is holding you back from getting healthy? Is it all too overwhelming with the current climate of this crisis? My coaching advice to you – “Take it one day at a time”. As we are experiencing this crisis right now, your health is everything and without it, we have nothing.
